FlourishAnyway believes there is a playlist for almost every situation and is dedicated to uniting and entertaining the world through music.
Enjoy your youth as a superhero
Being young is like wearing a superhero costume. You have special powers, unlimited energy and you can change the world, whether it needs to change or not. Besides, you look great in spandex. Enjoy your youth while it's here.
While some swap the cover for a business suit or mom jeans, others stay cool on the inside. I hope you are one of them. Whether you're young or young at heart, celebrate the hope, freedom and discovery of youth with a playlist of pop, rock and country music. We have a long list to start with!
1. "Forever Young" by Rod Stewart
This 1988 rock song is a heartfelt wish for a loved one to have all the best in life, from making the right choices to the right attitude and spiritual guidance. Above all, it is a wish that he or she retains the wonder of a young heart, regardless of their actual age.
May the good Lord be with you on every path you walk
And may sunshine and happiness surround you when you are away from home.
And my you will be proud, worthy and loyal
And do to others what you would do to yourself
be bold and be bold
And in my heart you will always remain
Forever Young. (Forever Young)
2. "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield
According to this uplifting 2004 pop song, the true glory of youth is that your life is unwritten, it's a blank page and you've got the pen. Are you ready to write your story? The narrator encourages you to dig deep and figure out who you want to be. Will you be a hero, rebel, jester, caretaker, explorer or something else? Embrace your role(s) in life fully and remember that you are the author of your own life story.
3. "We Are Young" by Fun (com Janelle Monáe)
This 2011 Grammy-winning pop song described the blind confidence of being young, especially when surrounded by friends. The Narrator and his friends are in town and want to make sure everyone gets home safely. The song was inspired by a night of heavy drinking.
Tonight we are young
So let's burn the world
We can shine brighter than the sun.
4. "Young" von Kenny Chesney
People often waste their youth wishing they were older and then spend their old age trying to regain the magic of youth. This 2001 country song highlights the good points of the narrator's coming-of-age years. While everything looked pretty good in the rear view mirror, it has to be admitted that mirrors are notorious for their blind spots.
Most of the narrator's memories are of hanging out with his supposed rebel friends. They wore rock 'n' roll t-shirts and showed bad attitudes. In their imagination they will always be young.
5. "Good Life" von Three Days Grace
The young narrator of this 2010 hard rock song is still searching for his identity. People run by and all he wants is a little bit of the good life. Though reluctant to act, he knows he is the only one who can make it happen. It's time to take a stand.
6. "Jack and Diane" by John Cougar Mellencamp
This 1982 rock song is a classic teen anthem. It celebrates two 16-year-olds, a soccer star and his girlfriend. Living an idyllic, carefree life, Jack and Diane explore their newfound independence and emerging sexuality before assuming full-time responsibilities of adulthood.
Since its release, the song has become a cultural mainstay, and numerous pop, rock, and country songs have featured Jack and Diane. how many of themSongs related to Jack and DianeYou know?
7. „Stressed Out“ von Twenty-One Pilots
The narrator of this 2015 rock song tries to regain the security of his childhood and wishes he could go back in time to the good old days. Rather than face the pressures of adulthood, he wishes for the reassurance of his mother singing him to sleep and spending the stress-free days playing with his siblings.
Instead, he faces the adult reality of making money in a world where even his creativity offers little redemption. (Just wait until you've got a house and kids, man. That's when the real stress begins. No offense.)
8. "Springsteen" by Eric Kirche
Ever had a song that instantly took you back to your glory days? For the guy in this 2012 country song, it's an old Bruce Springsteen soundtrack that packs a punch. He was taken back to his 17-year-old self and to a Saturday night in July when he and a young love interest spent hours under the stars singing Springsteen songs.
That summer the narrator went to gasoline for his fire. However, now all that's left is the name tattoo and the memories. He is convinced that all these years later, if she would only whisper his name, she would still know who he was. I bet you're right.
9. "Young Blood" by Bea Miller
This 2014 pop song is a youth anthem that captures the essence of the current generation. He proclaims that young people can break the rules, question authority and make their own way, but they must overcome the dark times. With the energy and drive of young blood running through their veins, today's generation can find their own happiness and empower each other as they rewrite tomorrow. Oh, the strength and hope of being young and having the world at your feet!
10. "Live While We're Young" von One Direction
Before they became men, the boys from One Direction hinted at some grown-up shenanigans in this 2012 pop song. Surely you couldn't be old enough to shave?
The song's narrator tries to convince a girl to sneak out of the house all night and pretend her attraction is love: "Let's get some tonight and live while we're young."When you're young you tend to think about your pants, and if you're not careful you can spend your life dealing with the aftermath.
11. "Teenage Dreams" by Katy Perry
Fascinated by the invincibility of youth, the narrator of this 2010 electropop love song thinks she's found the love of her youth. She feels ready to risk the dream she has envisioned with her partner. He is the missing piece of the puzzle and their future begins tonight. At least that's how she sees it.
12. „Young Volcanoes“ von Fall Out Boy
This 2013 rock song has an infectious beat and its young narrator sounds powerful and unstoppable. Addressing her lover, she describes how her youth, raw strength, and beauty prepared her for victory. You'll discover that part of the challenge of being young volcanoes isn't destroying everything in their path with their wild energy.
13. "Dieciséis" by Thomas Rhett
Nostalgia reigns supreme in this 2017 country song. The narrator recalls being a teenager in a hurry to grow up. She couldn't wait to get her driver's license at 15 and learn to drive. After turning 16, however, she looked forward to turning 18, which would allow her to spend a Saturday night unsupervised and without a curfew.
He had the right to vote and smoke at 18, but expected to be of legal drinking age at 21. Instead of living in the moment, he always wanted more.
Now, as a married man contemplating his life, he regrets not appreciating every phase of his life more. Do you appreciate the life you have today or are you too busy thinking about tomorrow?
14. "Seventeen" by Alessia Cara
The girl in this 2016 R&B song wants to stop time at 17 and grapple with the reality that we all have to grow up at some point. You want to keep that carefree, secure feeling of being young. She doesn't want to grow up. While we cannot stop time from destroying our bodies, we must not let our minds weaken. how old do you feel inside
15. "Juventude" von Troye Sivan
If you meet someone at a young age, you will spend some of the best years of your life with that person. Make sure they are worthy of your sacrifice. The narrator of this 2015 pop song clearly thinks it's his lover. He proclaims: "my youth is yourswhile telling his partner to run away.
The young lover does not know what their future together looks like, whether their love will last only a short time or for a lifetime. The development of your love story can therefore make you happy or bitter. I hope you made a wise choice.
16. "Girls just wanna have fun" by Cyndi Lauper
A teenage girl anthem in my day, this 1983 pop song is equally catchy and relevant today. (Cyndi Lauper was "totally radical" in the 1980s with her non-traditionally dyed hair, although today that style is far from shocking.)
The song celebrates the party girl lifestyle of a girl who stays up late and talks to her phone in the middle of the night, much to her parents' chagrin. He wants to be the center of attention and just have fun. Who can blame her?
17. "You Make Me Feel So Young" by Frank Sinatra
1956 was a very good year. Back then, Ol' Blue Eyes recorded this jazz classic. The song is one of his most famous numbers and features a narrator who claims to be absolutely smitten with his girlfriend:
you make me feel so young
You make me feel like spring has come
And every time I see you smile
I'm so happy en-di-v i-du-al.
They run and sing and play like two children and he knows that even when she is old she will still feel young.
In his real life, Sinatra was prone to mild to severe depression, was married four times, and had several extramarital affairs. However, he has remained close to his ex-wives, some of whom have stated that they were never emotionally apart.
18. "Forever Young" by Eric Paslay
The man in this 2018 country song recalls the love of his youth and his old love of their endless summers, their unbroken hearts and their first love. He remembers their relationship as a magical, uncomplicated love in which they both felt invincible. Young people often do that. He wistfully longs to regain that feeling, but he recognizes on some level that feeling forever young will only be a distant memory.
19. "The Young" by Kesha
The message behind this 2012 global pop hit is to make the most of today and live it like it's your last. The narrator describes a carefree life on the wild side. She and her friends are passionate and dancing no matter who is watching. In the morning there might be a lot to pay, but tonight they are young and having a great time.
20. Taylor Swifts „Quitte“
In this 2009 country song, Taylor Swift paints a picture of herself as a high school freshman on her first day of school. She shyly tries to navigate the school hallways and then learns to navigate through friendships and relationships. Although at the age of 15 she still didn't know who she should be, she spent the next few years figuring out her life.

Carolina: Thank you. I've adjusted the language to be gender neutral. I've always wanted to make a playlist of love songs that doesn't indicate the gender of the people involved. Maybe with the help of readers I can start with that.

To the YOUTH by Troye Sivan: He's actually gay, so he's asking his ~male~ lover to run away with him, not a woman. It would be "He announces 'my youth is his' when he asks her to run away with him," not "He announces 'my youth belongs to him' when he asks her to run away with him".

Bob - Thanks for the suggestion. I have Donny Osmond's version on the related playlist of songs about young love. (I've tried to offer more or less a few love songs for young people here, but I'll stick with youth in general, so I won't copy the whole list.) I sure remember this song! I like you. Have a good weekend.

Another great list, although there are many that I don't know about! I'm glad I grew up in the 50's and 60's, the age of innocence for me. I don't want to be young now as there is too much awareness of the world that children used to be shielded from, maybe mostly because of the internet (which has its good points too).
However, I am still young at heart. Seeing life through the eyes of my grandchildren keeps me rooted in the beauty and wonder of the world around us; everything is fresh and wonderful! I am now dying to look beneath the surface for depth and new discoveries.
We will

Oh, the memories of youth, Flourish. How fun was that? It happened before I could say goodbye. i love your playlist
I was thinking of one but I see so many songs with similar titles that I wonder if it was remade.
It was called (I think) Only 16 by Sam Cook.
The narrator sings:
"She was only 16, only 16 ... she was too young to fall in love and I was too young to know."
There was also this Boyz 2 Men song: It's hard to say goodbye to yesterday.
Is it me or you played the Blink 100 song twice. Am I fooling my age? (hahaha)
